Can IMU Provide an Accurate Vertical Jump Height Estimate?

The aim of the present study was to determine if an inertial measurement unit placed on metatarsal part foot can provide valid and reliable data for accurate estimate vertical jump height. Thirteen female volleyball players participated in study. All were members Republic Serbia national team. Measurement height performed two exemplary jumping tasks, squat counter-movement jump. Vertical estimation using flight time method both devices. presented results support a high level concurrent validity relation force plate estimating (CMJ t = 0.897, p 379; ICC 0.975; SQJ ?0.564, 0.578; 0.921) as well reliability (ICC > 0.872) results. proposed positioning may in-field alternative other principal advantages include small size sensor possible simultaneous monitoring multiple athletes.
